Hi, I’m Al Smart, a retired BT Manager and Road Safety presenter (yes, those speed awareness courses!) based in North West Leicestershire. I’m happily married, and we share our home with a very opinionated tabby cat who graciously decided we were worthy of his companionship.
My love for radio broadcasting started with a fascination for pirate radio stations—those daring operations on ships and abandoned wartime forts. In 2007, I turned that passion into action, volunteering as a presenter, engineer, and fundraiser with Carillon Radio, a hospital radio station. Back then, recording a show meant weekly trips to the Loughborough studios—a logistical challenge while juggling self-employment. With my engineering background and a dash of curiosity, I soon discovered I could record programmes from home, and I’ve been doing so ever since. After a few years at Carillon, I took a leap into internet radio, launching my signature show, Easy Sunday. It’s a mix of music from the 1950s to today, blended with fun features designed to entertain and uplift. Now, I’m thrilled to bring Easy Sunday to Your favourite Radio Station, sharing timeless tracks and feel-good vibes to make your weekends brighter. So, tune in, sit back, and let’s take a musical journey through the decades together!
Hope you like it.
